Raspberry Pi 4 as Cheap NAS

Coming soon.

My (not so) Chromebook is sold

This day had to come. I got rid of my Chromebook a few days back. Just realized I was wasting too much time doing thing on it which I could do better on my NUC. Good thing is as I keep my devices super clean, I sold it for a really good price as it looked almost new even after a few years.

I still did need a laptop which I can drag around when I code, so decided to get a cheap Acer spin 14. It has decent specs - 8th gen i7, 16 gb Ram, 512 GB NVMe SSD which should keep my running for the next few years. The touchscreen which came with it is the only thing I am not a big fan of.

As I use linux as my daily machine, the specs are overkill for what I do.

lubuntu 20.04 on my (not so) chromebook

I just completed the install of the Lubuntu 20.04 version which was officially released today and I am impressed.

The Chromebook keyboard and trackpad are always a pain on most linux distos apart from ones running on Gnome 3, Cinnamon, Pantheon. XFCE and LXQt never worked properly; although I did have workaround to get it working.

The lubuntu 20.04 has all of it resolved!!! Love it. There was a tiny improvement in the Geekbench score from Mx Linux.

Geekbench 5 on my (not so) Chromebook

I have a chromebook which I cant seem to understand why I bought, but is now a way I spend time doing meaningless stuff on.

My Chromebook is an Acer Chromebook 14 and is running Mx Linux 19.1. Yes, Obviously I had to get rid of Chrome OS as its an abomination.

The results were sooo bad, I felt like throwing this into a recycling bin at my local BestBuy.
